1. . What is the key role of KHDA?

The Authority is in charge of planning, executing and monitoring education development schemes in cooperation with all concerned local and federal governmental bodies as well as leading regional and international educational entities. The Authority works on evolving new benchmarks for the local education system in Dubai, on a par with international standards and global best practices. It is also responsible for creating and disseminating knowledge across Dubai and fulfilling human development requirements in the emirate.

The Authority enhances the quality of education in various stages in accordance with market requirements, and in coordination with relevant organizations.

The Authority manages all educational institutions in Dubai. It also supervises their performance according to the UAE's laws and regulations. All establishments involved in the fields of knowledge, education, and human resource development fall under its jurisdiction.

4. Is the Authority responsible for the licensing of private schools?

The Authority is responsible for licensing and regulating private educational institutions in the emirate and affiliated free zones. This includes private schools and other training and educational institutions. The Authority also undertakes the attestation of certificates issued by schools and institutions by establishing measures in line with the policies of the concerned federal ministries.

The processes of licensing, organizing and encouraging higher educational institutions, such as colleges and universities all fall under the Authority’s jurisdiction. The Authority is responsible for the attestation of certificates issued by these institutions.

The Council’s former projects, initiatives, institutions and commitments fall under the Authority’s supervision, including the agreement that has been signed between the Council and the Ministry of Education on Dubai Education Zone. According to this agreement, DEZ is also part of the Authority.

Tanmia is an authority working in the same field. Therefore, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority cooperates and coordinates with Tanmia in the area of human resource development and employment.
